Rabbi David Markus
David Markus is co-rabbi of Temple Beth El of City Island (New York). He also has an active Spiritual Direction practice and serves on the Spiritual Direction and Rabbinics Faculties for the ALEPH seminary. By day he presides as judicial referee in New York Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District, making him North America’s only rabbi simultaneously serving a regular pulpit and maintaining a public oath of office. Rabbi David’s writings appear regularly in academic journals, prayerbooks and various online platforms. As well, he is an accomplished vocalist, pianist and composer.
