Robert Ellsberg is the long-time editor-in-chief and publisher of Orbis Books. He is the author and editor of many award-winning books about saints and holy lives, including All Saints: Saints, Prophets, and Witnesses for Our TimeBlessed Among All WomenThe Franciscan Saints, and The Saints’ Guide to Happiness. Robert spent five years in the late 1970s as part of the Catholic Worker community in New York City, where he served for two years as managing editor of the Catholic Worker newspaper, working alongside Dorothy Day for the last five years of her life. He has been dedicated since then to promoting Dorothy Day’s life and legacy, editing her selected writings, letters, columns and diaries. Robert’s other recent books include Lead, Kindly Light: Gandhi on Christianity, and A Living Gospel: Reading God’s Story in Holy Lives. His next book will be a compilation of his correspondence with the English hermit, Sister Wendy Beckett.
